Not clicking on the link, but isn't this about older moms who waited too long to have kids naturally and are using fertility treatments?

If you are an older first time mom who is going to be in your mid to late 60s with a teenager, and are conceiving in a way that the lab can pick the baby's gender, it makes sense that more of the moms will pick a daughter to increase the possibility that her only offspring will be more likely to take care of her in her old age.  The older moms also likely perceive little girls as being less physically taxing for an older mom than little boys, making a duaghter more desirable than a son.[/quote]

Those are all reasons tgat moms everywhere give when stating they express wanting daughters over sons.  It's not like any of those things are a big surprise.

The reasons women give for preferring girls are:

1) Girls easier to manage than boys when they are younger because girls behave and communicate better when young.

2) Girls are more likely to be around and keep a relationship with mom after they grow up, and more likely to take care of their parents than boys

3) Little boys are so wild and rambunctious and I don't have the time or energy to deal with that.

4) Dreading little girls is so much more fun than dressing little boys

5) girls will favor their parents over their in laws after marriage and having babies, while many daughter in laws actively block their husbands families from their dailu lives, so if you have girls you are far more  likely to get to have relationships with your grandkids and more likely to get your kids/grandkids for holidays than you are with sons (This stereotype is true in nearly every family I know, even if the husband's parents are great people and the wife's parents are shrews.)

6) Girls have more opportunities than boys.  They can be girly girls and still be strong, or successful in traditionally "guy" roles/jobs/sports, with more freedom against stereotypes and the ability to choose their path.

Isn't the article about moms who use artificial conception to create their babies, ie older moms?

Those women are going to be disproportionately older moms, closer to menopause, who are only goung to get one or two shots max at having a baby.

Those are the ones requesting baby girls.

Of course those older moms struggling with fertility are thinking about their potential daughters as being more likely to care for them in old age, and being physically easier to raise due to behavior of younf girls vs young boys.

Why else would these moms select baby girls fetuses instead of just wanting a healthy baby of any gender?[/quote]
