Two things can be true.  You can have a drop in violent crime and you can have a prosecutor who makes terrible decisions.

It is also possible that violent crime is not being charged and prosecuted.  That makes stats look better.

Remember, we are only seeing the most extreme cases in the news.  How many are unreported?

There have already been reports that charges are dropped or reduced for some of the suspects because witnesses didn't want to testify.  None of this means anything.  All the details are so high level.  This isn't a good-faith investigation.

As a separate but related matter, ICE can call up and find out when people are getting released.   They aren't barred from any jails in Fairfax County.  This isn't an insurmountable problem. If they have to wait a few hours on release day, so be it.[/quote]

1. ICE has to be told the person is in custody and being released..
2. The sheriff has said she will release anyone to ICE who has a "judicial warrant."  That requires time and red tape that should not be necessary.  If an undocumented alien has committed a crime, they should be turned over.  Period.[/quote]
