America is actually a completely amoral country. The patriotism we talk about is only the rantings of MAGA White supremacists.   MAGA hates immigrants and racial minorities are not given a fair chance in this country.

American values is all about making a buck. And Eileen Gu's values are the best of American values.

Of course, her hard work and her mother's sacrifices are  a result of the best of Chinese family culture so it was appropriate that she honored her background by playing for China.  Besides, China is smart, strategic, influential and not broke like USA.  I expect her career and earnings will sky-rocket in the future with her China connection.

And she's gorgeous!  Many of her endorsements are about her being so pretty, and the half-Chinese, half-American look does very well in China. Alysa Liu is also Chinese American, and at least so far, even after winning a world championship last year, she doesn't appear to have strong sponsorship income.  I think it's an interesting comparison, as they are both Chinese Americans, though, of course, Elieen's mom is welcomed back in China, while Alysa's dad is not, so skating for China was never an option for Alysa.  I hope Alysa can convert her Olympic Gold into a small fortune, too![/quote]

Maybe China or Taiwan should give her similar endorsement. Or maybe other countries should bid on Alysa?

I agree. She should also make a fortune like Eileen. Also, I think it is fair for the world to bid on the best athletes so as audience we can see spectacular sports.  And athletes can get citizenships in more resourced nations. [/quote]

Why would China or Taiwan want to promote Alysa Liu? She doesn't speak any Chinese and doesn't seem culturally Chinese in any way except for biology.
Comparing Alysa Liu to Eileen Gu is like comparing apples to oranges. Eileen Gu grew up in a Chinese household and annually spent summers in China. I think she even attended the dreaded Saturday Chinese School just like most Chinese kids do.
Alysa Liu is just another half-Asian who knows nothing about that half heritage. The lack of knowledge and awareness about her cultural history qualifies her as utterly American.

Even more so, Alysa’s dad is a political refugee who fled China after Tiananmen Square. He also grew up super poor. Eileen’s mom appears to be from a wealthy Chinese family. She went to Stanford after she immigrated to the U.S. [/quote]
