You literally spray the ears with saline twice a day and leave them alone. It's really not any more painful than a prick and much easier to manage on a baby than a toddler who is going to be touching it all the time or a teen who lacks personal hygiene and is going to forget to do the spray or want to go swimming with her friends or have to take them out for sports.
