My ILs never turn their 2 TVs off. Plus a police scanner.
When I first married my husband and would visit, I would turn the TVs off only for 5 minutes later to be asked who turned it off and why.
They cannot live without background noise.

No, you’re mixing it up with the TV show cops.

Where I live it’s mostly reports of suspicious people, lockouts, and things that escalate like prowlers who get caught and then the cops pursue them on foot through alleys. Where my brother lives is suspicious people, kid setting off fireworks, and people hitting deer on the road.

You have to listen for a long time for something interesting to happen crime-wise. It’s mostly pleasant background noise and the rhythm of the chatter and occasional joking is not unpleasant if you don’t mind the static.[/quote]
