So do tell what is that hard cut off? And I assume the dashboard is something HR has not everyone? I'm a new ish govt employee and obv not staying - can I assume you don't just telework but when timesheet submission comes around you "forget" that you teleworked last Tuesday and put it in as regular office hours bc they could pull badges? Or your manager may be like hey I'm not signing this you were teleworking last Tuesday, fix this?
SEC manager here- I approve time cards and I review the telework coding. The dashboard exists.
Does it somehow separate hour teleworking hours worked outside of regular hours? I’ve worked a lot of credit hours during evenings and weekends at home - if those are being counted against me, well I don’t think I will work extra anymore.
Credit hours are a different timesheet code. They are looking for code 010 with TW indicator "i".
Are they pulling badge data to compare or is it just a timesheet review?
There are two different things. One is the TW dashboard that they are using to see which parts of the organization and which people within those parts of the organization are TW too much (however that is defined). This will cover people that are TW and properly coding their timesheets. There is another separate process where there are random audits of subsections of badge data that are matched up against timesheet data to catch people that TW and don't report it (this happened pre-DOGE btw).
How frequent do we think these badge audits are? Yes they did occur pre Doge - at least I heard about them last Aug/Sept designed to catch people who weren’t coming in for the 2 days/PP in office days back then but were coding it as if they were coming in. Does anyone actually know anyone who’s had an consequence from these things? As much as everyone keeps saying they’re using a telework dashboard and badge audits - we’re not exactly hearing of ppl getting fired over it?
PP here and my understanding on the TW is that they are just "talking" to the managers and the employees with the expectation that TW will decrease. There probably isn't much risk although let's say you can get away with 1 or 2 days per pay period and you push it to 3 or 4 you may lose that 1-2 days you have. Historically on the badge audits they just talked to people, I don't know that the current approach is. Unless your manager is in a different office I think it would be hard to just not come in and not have anyone notice. I think it also puts your manager in a bad spot when you submit a time card to them that you know is inaccurate.
This. My sense is that anyone just not coming in at all but saying on a timesheet that they are is like the lone member of their group in their office w their management someplace else. I guess it’s also supervisor dependent if they’d knowingly look the other way. I know mine and the 2 other time approvers in my group would not. If you teleworked 2 days this wk but when submitting time showed it as being in the office all 10 days, they’d def say - hey you weren’t in a few days last wk. If you tried to gloss it over, I’d imagine they’d say yeah I can’t validate your time bc I know it’s wrong - and do whatever it is they do in that case.
