Another SwimMom here and I love MySwimIO too. Also — Machine is very invested in NOT supplying files to third party sites, so Machine meets like the June LC meet are not on these sites. Neither is NCAP’s SC Splash & Dash. Does anyone know if Karyn (NCAP Director of Ops/Meet admin) or Bryce Bohman would be willing to supply these files to the third party sites? I don’t know either well enough to ask.
Why would Machine be so against supplying those meet files. It only hurts the swimmers by doing so.
I asked Paris this question this summer and she shared she has been hit with many parents also complaining about their children’s information being used by 3rd party platforms and they do not want their children’s information there. When families register they register for Machine and USAS for their information to be shared, not these other platforms. Given the college landscape using Swimcloud, she did add that one to the disclosures and is supplying results to them. She took the time to follow up with me on their change in procedure.
Credit to her for answering your question in a straightforward way. For the parents who are concerned with their children’s information being publicly available, why would they not just have their kid identified as anonymous anonymous? I have seen that on Meet Mobile numerous times. I also think there is distinction that should be drawn between 12 and under and 13 over swimmers given how common the use of SwimCloud is for recruiting.
Seems like we could treat this like directory information under FERPA and allow parents to opt out rather than wiping the whole slate clean.
