i own a landscaping, construction company. If it rains, snows, etc and the jobs get cancelled, we don't get paid. The pay can then be made up by working longer hours, during weekends, etc. I want to pay them but if there is snow on the ground for two weeks, I cannot be solvent. Is inclement weather their fault? The guys work hard, have families to feed, etc and earn a fraction of what these lazy a$$ Feds earn so no I don't feel sorry. No work = no pay!
As a landscaper or contractor you set your rates with the risks you incur in mind. Federal employees are paid a certain amount based on what they provide to you, the taxpayer. For example, your employees at the Department of Energy know extremely sensitive information that other countries would pay very good money to know. I personally don’t want those individuals to be going months without salary and vulnerable to espionage efforts. People who work for the government have skills and knowledge that are more valuable than a landscaper, sorry. There’s no analogy there.
