On domestic flights the best seat generally (unless its an internationally configured plane) is "United First", which is a traditional recliner with good legroom and about 20 inches or so wide and a nice gap to the seat next to you, in a 2-2 configuration on a narrowbody plane. On long haul international it's a lie flat seat generally in a 1-2-1 configuration so every seat has aisle access without stepping over anyone else (except on 757s which are rare, but have a 2-2 lie flat configuration, so the window has to step over the aisle).
