Ha. If they went to an Ivy or private SLAC or Georgetown, etc.,,,,then they would see true wealth.  Private jets, etc.  Why are they snobby at UVA? I think that’s what turns people off. This oversized attitude for a state school. [/quote]

While it is true about extreme wealth pockets at ivies, as we have two at different ivies, the corollary is that [b]there is also more racial diversity and a higher percent of pell-grant recipients/low income, compared to UVA[/b]. Overall UVA does give a white-preppy cliquey aura that is not at ivies. Some seems to be the high percentage of NOVA and Central VA parents who all know each other and go to grounds various football weekends in groups. Ivies are not like that because the students come from all over the US and world. [/quote]

There is more racial diversity at the ivies over UVA if by diversity you want a whole lot of Asians.  Princeton admitted 5% black kids this year.  5%.
