This is just a thinly veiled swipe at Christians. Take your idiotic trolling somewhere else.
Evangelicals deserve it. They are a cult.
Clearly, you and several others here are ejoying your participation in this thread-- not to express concern or empathy but to bash southerners and Christians in your "bubble. Disgusting behavior, whatever your beliefs may be.
DP. Oh no! Did you get your feelings hurt? Southerners and Christians are selfish hate filled people who go out of their way to cause pain and suffering to others. Now you want the people you spit on to drop everything and come running to your aid?
DDP: Just stop. Yes, there is a big problem with the mindset of "we don't want Federal interference until we do." But sweeping, harsh generalizations about whole regions or religions are just dumb. Have a civil discussion of facts and policy. Ranting at other people as being "hate filled" is self-accusatory.
This isn't a sweeping generalization, it's REALITY: 1. There wasn't just one or two late-late-night flood warnings sent out, there were multiple, along with a forecast of bad weather days prior. Most of those were ignored, and the only flood warnings that were actually passed along had a 90 minute delay. That's totally on inept local officials. 2. They REPEATEDLY refused funding to improve flood warning infrastructure, flood gauges, warning sirens and other things and most recently redirected funding from Biden to buy stupid shit like a $250k armored police vehicle that they didn't need plus $1m that went to some deputy sheriff for what looks like a corrupt scheme. It was a bunch of bullshit to cosplay and look tough rather than anything to actually protect and serve their community. 3. For decades they REPEATEDLY tried to get exemptions, change the flood maps, or have the locations of their cabins removed from the FEMA flood maps in order to avoid oversight and insurance requirements. They were literally trying to cheat and scam their way around mother nature. 4. It's also been shown in the IPCC AR6 findings that there was a high confidence in the models showing increased flood likelihood and risk in that part of Texas due to human-made climate change, followed on by numerous models, studies and so on that now can directly attribute the worsening of storms to include this specific storm (yes, those papers are already out) to human-made climate change. All of this was of course ignored by fools bamboozled by the fossil fuel industry and believing that because Jim Inhofe brought a snowball into the floor of Congress on a February morning several years back, that climate change has been "disproven" or is a "hoax." It has not been disproven and is absolutely not a hoax.
