PhDs do not generally make huge sums of money throughout their careers - cutting off foreign students isn't going to magically cause more US students to decide to go for a PhD if they genuinely aren't interested in research. [/quote]

with the cuts, the salaries are going to go down.  The US scientist we will be able to afford are the ones who were at the bottom of their class.  I'm sure that will work well.[/quote]
