For Algebra at DHMS: -Envision hardbound textbook at home -A lot of the material does seem to come from TPT but it’s good quality -Students take guided notes together as class and work through several problems together, all taught by the teacher -Kids have choice board with variety of assignments - with a partner, on paper, on IXL or other app -Kids take quizzes on paper - they are marked up, graded, and returned -Kids take tests on iPad but have to show their work on paper. Work paper is returned if requested for test corrections with answer key. -Kids have to do test corrections to be eligible for test retake -Kids use IXL, etc for homework, not instruction We are 6 for 6 math classes on teacher-led instruction, not IXL or videos.
Lol. I've never seen a choice board outside of elementary school--that's ridiculous. My kid has never had a teachers paying teachers worksheet or quiz on paper. Like not a single on paper math assignment since the pandemic. Everything is on the iPad. At most students are required to take a photo of scratch paper with their iPad and submit it, but it's never reviewed and nothing has ever been marked up and returned.
Are you at DHMS? I admit the choice board surprised me — and I assumed 99% of kids chose the computer /ipad option.
