I don’t understand how Kylie looks llle part Asian….is that all makeup or plastic surgery?
Ariane Grande has done this on a magnitude far worse than Kylie (I actually don't see this on Kylie at all), but nobody says anything. The poor young woman has the name Kardashian and at that point, automatically becomes a target for something that nobody else is.
Kardashians and Grande have both done it, just as they've both used dark tanners and makeup and hairstyles to look black-passing. This has been a big thing in the last 15 or so year as certain ethnicities have become "trendy" and various white celebrities have adopted looks, speech patterns, fashion, even created music and art to mimic those ethnicities. It's all part of a long history of white exploitation of minority culture that includes minstrelsy and Orientalism during the 20th century. Black culture was more popular in the 2010s so these celebs tried to looks, speak, and act like black people. As K-pop became a major cultural influence, you saw these same celebrities ditching the tanner and bronzer for pale skin and eye makeup that mimics Korean or Japanese eyes. It reminds me of when Gwen Stefani decided she was a harajuku girl. It's crazy to me that this still goes on and that people don't call it out more when it's happening. It's like people can only see it in retrospect.
