And she could have articulated a focus on how she wanted to approach Ukraine or Gaza in a way that would not undermine her current boss but still carve out something unique to her. Certainly she would have known the question would be asked.

Obama did worry after the 2016 election that it showed backlash, and I suspect if he didn't want her as a candidate it was because that backlash hadn't gone away. It's kinda too bad she didn't stay in the Senate, I think she could have become a prominent Senator. [/quote]

She couldn't answer the question because literally any answer she gave would have angered some faction of the Democratic party. That's the reason she spoke in such vapid platitudes, to avoid offending anyone. The only issue she was able to speak decisively about was abortion because they've already purged any moderates on that issue from the party.[/quote]

infrastructure funding for highway projects: "Car-centered expansion induces demand for more driving, increasing greenhouse gas emissions. That funding should have been used to promote cycling and other non-car modes"
US-China trade deficit: "The word deficit connotes negativity and is a protectionist trope. When one country grows wealthier it benefits the globe"
Reducing arrivals at the border: "Whatever happened to "Give me your tired, your poor?" Welcoming newcomers is who we are"
Ukraine: Any peace terms she could come up with would be accused of shifting the power in Russia's favor
Gaza: Not even touching that
Do you see? In the age of instant-response social media and exquisite sensitivity Democrats can't take stances. Republicans tolerate a lot more dissent and individualism.[/quote]
