I think you need to compare skinny skinny with skinny in shape. I’m a Pilates instructor and 43 and definitely thin by standards but it’s toned muscular thin. My thin comes from working out, not starving myself. I eat healthy and indulge when I want because I know my exercise levels allow it. Women need to start picking up heavy weights and get off the treadmill and peloton and recognize that toned muscles are so much sexier than skinny legs.
My mother is 79 and skinny/toned not old-lady skinny. Staying in decent shape throughout her life has helped immensely! She’s restarted weight training with a trainer recently but always done yoga and Pilates, as well as stationary bike. And cardio classes at her gym…cardio drumming is her fave and has helped her arms stay strong. She is 5’9” and *maybe* 125lbs, but she doesn’t look scrawny she just looks lithe and impressively strong for her age. You can see it in how she walks and moves. She’s my inspiration.
