Walz is a unicorn in the sense that he’s HIGHLY unusual. That’s not something we should look for in a candidate. He’s been to China more times than the average Washingtonian has been to Ocean City, MD. That is NOT a normal thing.
And he's a man & politician who has made mistakes, acknowledged them, and CORRECTED them. Examples - 1) DUI (decades ago), took responsibility, made life changes, now sober 2) Legal gun owner, was very pro-gun rights. Changed his stats, to still be protective of hunting and gun owning, while he stop accepting endorsements from NRA, and became an advocate for gun control around background checks, high capacity magazines, anti semi automatic weapons for general public. He listens, and is willing to compromise and look for the best solution for everyone. He's not a divider. I give him unicorn status, especially coming from the Midwest. - fellow Nebraskan, who has lived in MoCo for her adult life.
