Just finished and have to say - this was pretty bad. It had some good moments, but the ending was SO ridiculous. I actually thought it was Benji (what a stupid name!) all along because he was so creepy and odd. Not a fan of the actor. Eve Hewson is always good. Love Meghann Fahy - first time I ever saw her was in White Lotus and I thought she was fantastic. Dakota Fanning was good I thought. NK also good but the accent was terrible. LS was meh and I usually love him.
Why was NK’s accent terrible? It’s close to her real accent.
Her real accent is Australian. What she was doing in this show was a very affected British/continental-type of accent and it was beyond distracting. Not sure why they couldn't have just written her part as an Australian. There are complaints about it all over google. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tv/article-13822311/netflix-perfect-couple-nicole-kidman-accent.html
I think her accent was supposed to be an affectation. She was pretending to be someone she wasn’t. Her brother’s accent was much different and rougher sounding so I understood her character to have adopted a more upper class type of accent as part of her facade.
+1 I think the entire show was tongue in cheek in a very very subtle way. They all knew the whole thing was a bit ridiculous, but it was entertaining and a mock up of the rich world. This is why the beginning fit so well too. Would rich people actually do a Bollywood dance? Maybe not, but everyone was having a good time and it lent a dystopian quality to the show that stuck with the entire thing. You (or at least I) still got sucked into the drama and the murder mystery but there was always a quality of absurdism to the production.
