Interestingly, Monday came and went and this fight was not picked up by news outlets or officially confirmed or denied by MCPS. How'd did MoCo officials succeed in suppressing this story?
Do you think it is breaking news every time a teen throws a punch? This was dealt with before it escalated to something akin to the awful occurrence last year.
Given that it's circulating widely on social media (it has over 56,000 views on Twitter alone), yes, I do think they should address it.
Why should they address 2 boys fighting outside of school grounds? Even if it was in school grounds, unless it’s a brawl or weapons involved, there's no need to send out a communiqué about two knuckle heads releasing steams. If that was the case, MCPS would have to send emails/communications every single damn day and multiple times a day, because at any given school in MCPS and at any given time, there's some kind of confrontation going on.
When videos of fights in the community surrounding Paint Branch High School circulated on social media, the principal put out a community letter to address that and reminded students of their duty and obligation to conduct themselves according to the Code of Conduct while they were out in the community. Why is this different?
Families are STILL asking and yet they haven't addressed it. Were those "fighting" not mcps students?
MCPS does not have to address every fight in the community nor should they
So what criteria does it use to determine which ones it will and won't address? And is it consistently followed school by school, principal by principal and incident by incident?
MCPS probably responds to crimes committed by students, against students, and on campus. Not smacks at a shopping mall.
I just gave you the example with the fights in the community at Paint Branch High School, which were addressed by the principal via a community letter. Please read and keep up.
