JR leaving was the best thing that happened to SYC. Signed non disgruntle SYCer

I'd be remiss if I didn't stand up for JJ in saying he definitely cared about the kids. He's a good guy and we shouldn't question his character at all. His management of the team, lack of communication and general penchant for avoidance rather than addressing issues was the problem in my view. Great talent in 2014B that didn't develop as it should. That's an opinion and perhaps others could disagree, but things need to improve. Let's see what happens.
Sorry, I just stridently disagree about JJ. I know he has been with the club for 10 years or thereabouts, so I do not doubt at all that he was, at some point, an upstanding coach who cared about the kids. But I did not see one iota of that in the last year. All of us—coaches, parents, whoever—are unhappy with club politics for one reason or another. And I’ve heard some of the more specific complaints from other ASA coaches. But only one acted like he was there solely to collect a paycheck. Now your second point about the club needing to improve coaching, +10000 on that. JJ’s former players are now mostly spread out amongst next year’s pre-A and red teams. Hardly anything will happen until the fall season starts in earnest, but of the little I’ve heard or seen so far, I will give JJ one thing—he definitely was not a flake. Yes, let’s see what happens!
What does this even mean? Not a flake?
Likely a reference to JR not showing up to practices at the last minute, as reported by disgruntled SYCers. JJ didn't flake because he didn't have to. He showed up to games/practices 5 seconds before they started and left .2 seconds after they were over. He never and I mean never casually spoke to any parents, ever, and never went to any end of the year party or anything like that. Some would say, "That's not his job. His job is to develop the players, teach the game..." right but read the forum, he wasn't doing that either. Take all of that and add zero communication during the season and even running up to team placement which was mishandled and you can see why there are bruised feelings. Next year can’t get worse but I'm here to tell you: It needs to be better. Much better. And if it's not, then you'll see a real shake up because the mulligans are all gone.
