(It's the same dynamic as criticizing other parents for allowing crop tops and short shorts-- it makes parenting harder for the rest of us.)

I'm letting my kid go, though I hate the idea of it.  Why?  Because "everybody is doing it."

I don't always fall for that, but when I checked around, everyone I know is letting their kid go, including typically strict parents.  And my kid is 18 and about to go off to college.  So they'll be living alone/deciding for themselves/going to college parties soon enough.  I hate this because of the idiocy of kids all together on vacation.  But I also don't want my kid to be left out.

So she gets a big lecture before hand, and I'll have her turn on her location tracking and I'll expect a check in every night, and I'll pray![/quote]
