These elite colleges also discovered - perhaps to their surprise - that the admissions prospects of minority students and others from disadvantaged backgrounds were actually hurt by not requiring standardized tests. This is because many privileged students are more adept at touting their extra-curriculars and what not so that they can stand out. It’s unlikely therefore that DCPS is doing the cause of equity any favors by not considering the results of standardized tests for Walls, Banneker, and other selective schools. And this is from a parent who’s kid got in.[/quote]
