I can agree with this — on the surface.  One issue though, is that “mistakes” are often blatant dog whistles. Trump — the example you chose to bring up, employs this style frequently.  The people who want to “move on” quickly are usually not personally impacted by these “mistakes”.  They may even applaud them.  It’s easy to dismiss racism and the implications of having a racist political representative when the impacts of any racism won’t affect you personally in any negative way.

Trone’s a good egg.  I like the former governor too but would not support him in this race because I don’t want to help the Senate go GOP.  Alsobrooks is just not in their league.[/quote]
