Trone has admitted he used a racist term. Why are you making excuses for this mediocre white man?
No one is making excuses. He admitted and apologized. Move on. What is absurd here is those calling him an outright racist for misspeaking??
DP. I mean, let's be real. If he was a Republican and had made the same mistake, this thread would be hundreds of pages long, excoriating him for his "racism" and calling for his resignation. And you know this to be true.
At least with Trump I know this to be false. Trump would not behave like Trone and admit what he said and apologize. Trump would either deny he ever said it or blame the "radical left, Marxist, anarchist, Antifa" press for reporting it.
Regardless, ANY Republican (including Trump) would be crucified. But since this guy's a Democrat, no biggie. He apologized, let's move on! Which, frankly, is how it should be any time someone makes a mistake, regardless of their politics.
I can agree with this — on the surface. One issue though, is that “mistakes” are often blatant dog whistles. Trump — the example you chose to bring up, employs this style frequently. The people who want to “move on” quickly are usually not personally impacted by these “mistakes”. They may even applaud them. It’s easy to dismiss racism and the implications of having a racist political representative when the impacts of any racism won’t affect you personally in any negative way.
All I’ve seen is excuses for Trone. Some people have even come here to take it farther than he did, since actually apologized and admitted it’s a racist word. Using this racist remark won’t hurt him at all.
Trone’s a good egg. I like the former governor too but would not support him in this race because I don’t want to help the Senate go GOP. Alsobrooks is just not in their league.
