I find Taylor's big wide-mouthed "shock" at her wins VERY annoying at this point. She's one of the biggest grammy winners of all time. Act like you've been there. I do think this album is more deserving of awards than some of her prior albums that have won. Like Lover winning song of the year? Bleh. Red winning both Album of the Year and Country Album of the Year? Come on -- it was not a Country Album. Midnights/Anti Hero are some of her best work so at least I'm not annoyed that she's winning. But I do wish she'd stop with the "Who? Me?!?! Oh my gosh, I won?????" act. It is tiiiiiiiiired.
And it makes her seem chaotic and unthoughtful of her surroundings, she was practically jumping around on stage as if at a party with her friends, ignoring the (frail) legend on the stage with her. She could have chosen to start the theatrics when Celine walked off, bit that would take common sense and discernment.
I think it reflects her very strong investment in winning the award, for which I am mildly embarrassed for her. She already has a lot of Grammy's. There were other great albums nominated (I loved boygenius's The Record and Lana's album had one of my favorite songs in recent memory on it, Let the Light In with Father John Misty). But you could tell she was very determined to win because it sets a record and I think she's extremely conscious of wanting to be "the best" and beat others. She's like the Tom Brady of pop music. Like... I respect the talent and the work ethic but it does not stop me from rolling my eyes at the hyper competitiveness that veers in narcissism with alarming frequency.
