I have wondered if it’s polite to semi-quarantine for a few days after a trip.

Not a full quar, but maybe a social one. Optional activities..stay home.

I think it's a lot to ask, but if it's possible to minimize exposing others following higher risk exposures like travel or large indoor gatherings during times of significant community spread, it's considerate. I had a situation last summer when my co-worker, with whom I work closely, went to Vegas for a big indoor event. When he returned, I was less than two weeks away from a visit from my infant grandson, so I wore a mask in the office and didn't take it off at all (I ate outside). Three days after my co-worker's return, he tested positive for COVID. Of course I don't know if I would have caught it I didn't mask, but I was glad I did.[/quote]
