OP, just chiming in to say you can do it! You can make 3 more weeks of this torture. There are 13 more days in office until Christmas. Do you have to go in every day the week of Christmas? If so, that is only 4 more days in office, but I bet the boss won't be there all 4 of those days. Then, come January, you will only work on the 2nd, and then come in on the 3rd and quit! You got this. The end is near. If you celebrate Christmas, please buy yourself some extra special presents, things that will bring you joy and peace. A massage, cashmere robe or sweatsuit, a package of gym classes if that is your jam, anything that will bring you some happiness. Also, people tend to have pretty light social calendars in January. What about planning a celebration the first week of January with close friends to celebrate your freedom from this awful job? Having positive things to look forward to can be helpful when experiencing trying times. For all the people who have been telling OP she is a snowflake for weeks, I hope you get some lumps of coal in your stockings. Yelling is abuse. Screaming at people can be as damaging as physical abuse. Continue to be kind to yourself OP and if you don't have a therapist, get one. It can be helpful to talk through how you are feeling. if you've had a panic attack because of this, you should certainly get some care so that you can heal.
Op here. Thank you for this. I really appreciate it. I actually talked to my therapist about all of this yesterday and I was telling her how ridiculous i feel because even though I know I have such a short time left, it makes zero difference and that isn’t helping. For me, this situation feels unbearable, and YET, I cannot leave it. I think that is what puts me into a state of panic.
I have been teaching 20 years and my first year of teaching lots of people quit because of the stress and anxiety of the job. I did some drugs on the weekend to get through my first year sometimes because my school had violence issues and kids were verbally abusive to adults. I get it.
