Would a public school counselor really refuse to send a final transcript to a non-ED school? Would the counselor even be notified of acceptance to ED school ? My DS graduated from an MCPS school and was accepted to college ED. He had to request his final transcript for his ED school. The school did not know he had been admitted. I am pretty certain that the counselor would’ve sent the transcript to whichever school he put down on the form.
The counselor has to digitally sign the ED agreement in order for your kid’s application to be accepted . They most certainly are are aware of where your kid applied ED
DP. The counselor doesn't receive the decision from the ED school. Kid could just say they were denied.
So you not only want your kid to lie to colleges, but also their own high school counselor? Are they also lying to all their friends? Because kids talk.
This isn't about my kid and I'm not defending the practice. I'm just saying that the counselor might not know the kid was accepted. As a practical matter, one wonders what happens in, say, February when the kid hasn't enrolled at an ED1 school, does the college reach out to the high school counselor.
Schools require enrollment deposit shortly after ED acceptance. I don’t know anyone who has broken an agreement, but they would have had to pay this and presumably forfeited it if attending a different school.
