Op here. The pta president is skinny and blonde. The Girl Scouts troop leader is skinny and blonde. Dance moms are the same. So are the tennis moms. If it matters, I am not blonde.
pta leadership positions attract people who don't have full time jobs or demanding home situations (caring for littles or elderly parents or both), and people who don't have those kinds of commitments also have lots of time to exercise. when your free time is limited and precious, you tend to prioritize other things. i don't judge people who look "basic" and out of shape even though the have the money to look better because i don't know what else is going on in their life. you are too closed minded for your own good. there is so much more to life than a flat stomach and shiny hair.
Our last pta president was a lawyer. The one before her was pretty but not thin. Current PTA is a working mom. At our last school, the entire pta board worked including every single pta president. The only one mom who didn’t work was a military mom with a special needs child. Working moms usually have better hair than SAHMs. We live in an affluent neighborhood. There just aren’t many fat people. You are in the minority if you are fat. Working moms also not fat.
our current pta leadership is made up of women in their late 30s-late 40s who have part time jobs or work from home and no young kids. it has always been people like that, occasionally there is a work from home old-dad in the mix. i'm surprised (and a little skeptical) to hear of a pta whose leadership is all people with tons of more important things on their plate. maybe your school's pta doesn't do much.
NP, maybe you don’t live in the right area PP. At our school, all the involved moms worked and many with high power jobs. Some people are very good at multi-tasking, time management, and getting stuff done. That’s how they rose up to management/leadership, and higher level.
