I guess I’m the one weirdo who actually thinks the Clintons have a good marriage, or one I can relate to. There’s a pragmatism, ambition, and friendship there. It seems real to me. 60% of spouses cheat at some point. Maybe it’s my own marriage but a big part of why DH and I are together is because it’s in the mutual interest of our respective careers. We support each others ambitions and we are friends. I’m not sure we’re romantically in love with each other anymore but neither of us is leaving.
Most people get cheating at some point and mutual interest in each others careers. But Bill is just disgusting. His cheating goes beyond " cheating at some point." His cheating with a 22 year old intern in the White House is another level of trashy. The power imbalance is so large that I couldn't look my DH in the eye after that. The respect, interest, all of it, would be gone.
