I just learned that all of the votes to roll back women's reproductive rights came from Catholic Justices. Then I learned that the Supreme Court consists of seven Catholics, one Jew, and one Protestant. In the U.S., about 45% of the population is Protestant versus 22% Catholic. So Catholics with 78% representation on the Supreme Court is *way* over-represented. It's no wonder that the Court's adoption of the Catholic position on abortion is viewed as illegitimate by much of the country.
Only the conservative Catholics seem to vote their religion. I wonder why that is. But it is clear that they are beholden first to their beliefs and secondarily the law.
Really? Did any of them make a religious argument for why there is no constitutional right to abortion? Please cite me the page in the Dobbs majority or concurring opinions where those religious arguments are. You are pissed because a crappy decision that even Ginsburg knew rested on shakey legal ground was finally overturned. You can’t attack on the merits, so you go after the justices personally.
Please. They were specifically selected to do this because of their personal beliefs and they lied that they would defer to the fact that reproductive rights were held for 50 years by the women of this country. They have no respect for us and the feeling is mutual.
