It's a time when they're starting to focus more on friendships, their popularity, where they are on the social ladder, how they look, dress, etc. Some girls who take it to the next level start developing this mean-girl mentality. I think this is the case in all middle schools, although it might be worse in others, just depending on the year. [/quote]
