This database is not the same thing as the “no fly” list.

I'm not defending anything, but last I checked TX, FL, and NY are part of the US, and the federal government has the authority to deal with illegal immigrants, not a governor who is looking to score political points and looking to run for POTUS in two years.

Yes, the federal government has the authority.... but when the federal government shirks that authority, the states most heavily impacted need to take action.

Yet it is not fair for the citizens of Harlingen, Los Fresnos, Weslaco, Mercedes, Donna, Rio Hondo and many other small towns along
the Rio Grande border to bare the burden of the quality of life in their towns being destroyed.  I work with high school coaches,
teachers, and athletic directors in these towns.  People cannot leave their homes after about 6:00 pm every day because of illegal
drug traffickers and people being trafficked.  Virtually nothing is done to the coyotes trafficking people across the US border.

And let me remind you that  both Bushes - Sr and Jr - are from TX, and they both provided amnesty to illegal immigrants.

The issue of illegal immigration has been around for a very long time, and there has been infighting within the R party about it.  This is a mess that even the Rs can't figure out.

The NTDB “watchlist” is not the same thing as the TSA “no fly” or screening “selectee” lists. All represent government overreach in the name of national security that raise serious civil liberties concerns but everybody was cool with it when it was principally used to target Muslims. [/quote]
