Before I had a kid, I was the kind of person who would find something in the house to entertain friends' kids when they came by -- printer paper and some pencils, a game of Jenga. I wasn't going out and buying toys to entertain them, but I'd make some effort to provide them with something to do. But I think of this kind of the way I think of restaurants. My house was/is like that family friendly restaurant you show up to that immediately gives your kids crayons and placemat to color in, offers a kids menu, and has complimentary chocolate chip cookies for kids. But some restaurants don't do any of that. As a parent, you have to know where you are headed and plan accordingly. Some people do not have kid-friendly houses and that's their prerogative. [/quote]
