The best MC Elite players usually try out for Capital and switch if they make it. The MCElite HS team therefore always looks different than the 8th grade team. If your DD is trying to make sure she makes a team it is a good fall back choice. Also good to look at VAMetro.
Does MC have its tryouts way before Capital for 26? How does that work for girls on the team now and also for those who want to use as a back-up. Seems a little tricky to navigate… anyone have insight?
A lot of teams will offer an early look/tryout for girls they’re interested in—could be an early tryout for a few girls in the same situation, could be coming to a practice or if the coach has seen the girl play in enough games that could be enough. Hopefully no coach/club wants girls to be in bad situation of not having a team so they’ll work with families.
Our experience has always been that clubs will extend your time to make a decision if you are attending other tryouts. No clubs wants to force a player to make a decision before they are ready. We were up front with our current club that we wanted our daughter to attend 1 more tryout elsewhere before she made her decision and they were fine with that.
Most current clubs will. New clubs often won't. Their perspective is why did you try out for a new club if you weren't sure you wanted to join.
And clubs like M&D will essentially blackball you if you try out and don't accept...
No one turns down M&D!
My daughter refuses to tryout or play for M&D. Being friends with a few girls and having played with some she still has no desire to go there.
Great, do you want a prize or something? No one cares. Back to playing for the clown show that is DMV lax with Pride, Stars and Capital.
Yeah … that clown show Capital club. What a joke their 23s were … - Princeton - Brown - Harvard - Columbia - Northwestern - Navy - UVA (2) - Michigan (2) - ECU - Georgetown - St. Jo’s (2) - Colgate - Hopkins - VCU - Richmond - Pitt
Impressive list. Does anyone have a sense of how many of these girls received scholarship money from these schools (besides of course the service academies)?
