Not just with parenting, but in general. People here are super status conscious and they assume everyone is climbing up the same ladder they envision themselves to be on. It doesn't occur to them to be just a little thoughtful about this stuff. They think everyone else is also thinking "wow, this place is a dump, I can't wait until I can level up to a better job/neighborhood/school district/etc." Just tone deaf.[/quote]
