Not to be mean, but what do you do with a degree in music? I find it hard to fathom allowing my kid to go Brown (80K) for a music degree. It feels like the option from that is 1. music teacher 2. 1 in a million orchestra position. Is there another path? can you be a like a fiddle person for a country singer? I am seriously confused on private colleges offering majors like this.
That's why kid doesn't want an extensively performance degree. Interested in theatre, math, international relations/politics as well. Theatre is primary interest, but music is important -- it's good for the soul! Brown and NU are both offering a lot of aid. I would not pay 80k/year for a school unless it had guarantees of great employment or I made 3x what I make! Who was at the NU DC meet and greet last night? Nice event! Any other universities doing things like that? I thought that was a great idea. Several kids still deciding.
