I just would never think to hit up my parents for a major expense like a house down payment. You buy the house you can afford. Adults should never "need" help from their parents, emergencies and really bad luck aside. Asking your parents for $$ for a down payment because you had three kids with two teacher salaries and can't afford to move out of an apartment, not need, that's just irresponsibility. [/quote]
