This and many other DCUM threads is exactly why the anti-racism audit survey is needed. It takes a lot of privilege to complain about how much getting those emails bother you compared to other constant pieces of communication MCPS send out when 1) you can delete them and 2) there are probably people from all backgrounds who are craving the chance to speak honestly about their experiences. Look at how popular the "Black at B-CC" "Black at Whitman" accounts were - we can't support equity and diversity unless we create accountability, which was the main theme of those posts ("nothing was done to help me in that situation" or "I'm not doing well because I don't feel genuinely affirmed in this environment and I spend more time here than at home in the course of a typical week"). Think deep down about exactly why those emails bother y'all and other ones don't - for once, you aren't centered, it rightly calls into question your daily experiences/habits, and for once, people who have been undermined are getting what they deserve. It is individuals with mindsets like yours who are going to hurt our county's rep - just because you're liberal or "progressive", doesn't mean you express that selectively or not support causes such as this.
Very ignorant, stupid statement. I am not white, my children have been the recipients of racism in MCPS, and I am annoyed they are harassing us with this survey when clearly they have no intention of correcting the fundamentals and just mean to intensely convey to everybody that "they are doing something". When in reality, nothing will change. I see you, MCPS. I replied to the survey, 99% of which was entirely useless, by reiterating in the comment box what my complaints were. They know. They have heard me before. And you are a privileged fool for thinking as you do.
Ok, troll.
Troll? Agree or disagree with PP, but she made a substantive response, which is a lot more than can be said for your comment. That someone disagrees with you doesn't make he a troll.
Below may explain the reasons for the survey. Some DEI officer needs to justify their pay. I am sure MCPS has some such folks too. "Top diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) employees at major public universities earn massive six-figure salaries for leading initiatives that some experts found to be ineffective and instead enforce a "political orthodoxy." A review of salary data shows that the universities of Michigan, Maryland, Virginia and Illinois, plus Virginia Tech, boast some of the highest-paid DEI staffers at public universities, a Fox News review found. These institutions' top diversity employees earn salaries ranging from $329,000 to $430,000 – vastly eclipsing the average pay for the schools' full-time tenured professors. Four of the colleges justified the DEI leaders' salaries, citing the executives' seniority and the importance of their responsibilities. The University of Illinois did not return a request for comment. Experts identified these universities as having some of the most bloated DEI staff in the country and said they each rack up millions in costs each year."
