Here's my thing... she's a blogger who happens to have a Special Needs child but she's being heralded as a media goddess as the Face Of Special Needs Motherhood. THIS I have a problem with. Her blog, aside from her Birth Story post, does not address anything remotely to do with special needs other than dress her baby up in fashion forward clothing people send to her to make a buck off of her 15 mins of fame. Her blog has become a "brand." She has masterfully marketed herself but if she continues to be a "one trick pony" without diversifying (ie, as in actually TALKING about special needs, advocacy, and the issues we face as special needs parents) her 15 minutes of fame will be over REAL soon. Her birth story post brought people to her blog, but her lack of writing anything honest or "real" after that, I think made a lot of people lose interest. I don't mind what she writes about, and there's room in the blogosphere for everyone, but if she doesn't diversify herself, she'll go stale. Even madonna had to reinvent herself again and again to stay relevant. and the constant "commercials" in her posts from the millions of sponsors sending uber hip kiddie outfits her children model? God, ENOUGH already? Is this a glossy magazine or a blog that is supposed to be about real life and ... uh... i THOUGHT parenting a disabled child. I mean, she did the D.S. Buddy Walk and while she raised a bunch of money, it was more of a spectacle than an awareness raising campaign. It was a total "One Upping The Jones" Sorority flashback where fashion was the focus, and all this cute, over-the-top grandstanding overshadowed everything else. It seems to me her life doesn't drive her blog, her blog dictates her life... or what she choses to represent as her life. Its just a shame she can't make it more "real."
