“Boarded up with a notice of a hearing” likely means the property is being converted to a new use — not that it's abandoned.
Don’t miss the forest for the trees. Go drive down there, or are you too scared to see it for yourself?
OMG, just stop. The current property is boarded up because a big, shiny new building is proposed for the site: https://dc.urbanturf.com/articles/blog/more-details-and-maybe-livework-units-for-proposed-south-capitol-street-dev/17117
And what’s a big shiny new building going to do about the crime problems on that block, on N, on Half, etc? That’s not how this works, that’s not how any of this works. DC recently sued DCHA over the drug, prostitution and firearm crime problems right there on those streets, and that the housing authority had failed to abate the problems. Think a shiny, new big building is the answer? This is a thread about the Nats game shooting that occurred right there on S Capitol. And you’re hyper focused on whether a few empty buildings are abandoned vs boarded up vs being redeveloped? How does that prevent another shooting, when in all likelihood the people involved live or are connected to the neighborhood/streets behind the shiny building? Maybe you’re just being purposefully dense, but honestly you’re part of the bigger problem. Seriously.
Maybe you need to pay better attention to what you read before you respond. A prior poster (you?) said there were "boarded up and abandoned" buildings on South Capitol Street. All I did was provide some facts in response. If the so-called "abandoned" buildings aren't relevant to this discussion, then why did that prior poster (you?) bring them up to begin with?
The real estate developer has entered the chat. Why are you so hung up on “abandoned buildings”? An innocent Nats fan was shot. Where are your priorities? Geesh.
