Don't you mean [b]English[/b] faces? I'm British (Northern Irish) and I'll be cheering for Italy. And I'm not alone. You'll find that many in Britain, ie Scotland, Wales and N Ireland, support ABE - Anyone But England.[/quote]

What is so funny is that you state that with such authority - but you are still wrong. People from N Ireland are British (although they are just as eligible to be Irish, or indeed both).

Of course they are not part of Great Britain, as that is a geographical term to describe the mainland that contains England, Scotland and Wales. But they are part of the British Isles - another geographical term, so even from a geographical perspective they are “British”.

Politically, they are definitely British, even if some prefer to identify as Irish, as while Northern Ireland has a devolved assembly for local governance it is ultimately governed by the British government.
