He's not handsome.
+1. I can't believe she ever went out with him to begin with. Going from Gavin Rossdale to Blake Shelton seems like a major downgrade.
Rossdale only had a couple hits in the 90s, while Stefani has had a decent career. It always seemed to me like Rossdale was just mooching off of her.
That's how it looks now, as if she was a bigger star, but she really wasn't at the time. Their bands toured together in 1995, but No Doubt opened for Bush, not vice versa. She was totally after him. I think people forget that he was the handsome one (+ British!), and she was...well, just another girl in a band. I actually see the same patern: she chases her men.
Um no. Bush only had 20 million record sales. No Doubt over 35 million and then Stefani almost 20 million as a solo artist. This on top of Stefani’s commercial success on The Voice, her clothing line, Lamb (now defunct but over $100 million in sales), and contracts with Lancôme, L’Oreal, and Urban Decay. Gavin was chasing around his nanny; she’s marrying a star. Moreover, she divorced Rossdale. Gwens not chasing anyone.
NP. I don't necessarily think she's a fame chaser and I have little opinion on her marriages in that light, but she has been giving interviews for years about how she is cripplingly insecure about pretty much everything- her body, her career, her relationships, her parenting, etc. I do think she kind of "chases" men or at least falls in love fast and hard and questions her own independence. Which is...fine I guess? Hopefully Blake is a nice guy and doesn't abuse that like Gavin did.
Yeah, remember her No Doubt lyrics about falling super hard for another one of the band members and getting rejected? And then I saw an interview where she (or he?) said that Gwen would call him and get his feedback on the lyrics and he was like “well they are good lyrics but this is a little awkward…” Obviously she was really young and has probably matured a lot but I don’t think she is one of those women who is very secure in herself and has really high standards for men. I think she has issues that make her feel better about settling than being alone even if it’s not totally in her best interest. BUT she and Sheldon do seem really happy and stable and it seems like it works.
