Great.  Come back in 20 years and talk to me.  You'll still be paying rent, and I'll be living in a paid-up home with minimal costs each month.  Plus, my mortgage is significantly less than the rent on a comparable property would be.  It's not as simple as that of course, but neither is buying a house (even an expensive one) the terrible decision you make it out to be. [/quote]

No, in twenty years you will have moved twice, still be paying a mortgage, have spent at least a year ago using because your house won't sell, probably lost money and have spent a minor fortune remodeling. One of my questions is why you need/want such huge houses and so much stuff? It isn't necessary. At all. Stop working for things and spend time with your family.[/quote]
