I am so fascinated by crazy Priyanka superfan. Single cat lady for sure? Or shrill overbearing and overweight wife who’s husband is slowly dying inside every day. I know Indian women in real life who are much more beautiful so this isn’t about race. She’s nothing special and wears too much make up which means she needs it.
This this this. Many Indian women in real life or in the public eye are beautiful, and naturally so. Priyanka Chopra is not one of them.
Many women of all races in real life or in public eye are beautiful and naturally so. Most celebrities are not them. Most celebrities and movie-stars construct an image for us to consume. Melania Trump, Ivanka Trump, and all the Trump women are plastic surgery miracles do that DiaperDon can be appeased. But I guess that the non-White women are targets? My God, this country is racist AF.
Black woman reading through this thread and mildly amused and SMH at the same time. Indian women get used to it, it is not going away anytime soon. Many people in this country will try to convince you that the standard of beauty is fair skin with European symmetrical features , and you best recognize and conform. You don't have to accept it, just don't let them in your headspace. It's not worth it.
🙏🏽 thank you. I grew up in a school as the only Indian, only Asian altogether.. Showing my age here. It was so difficult not having anyone that looks like me not in school, not in magazines, in toys, on TV. Our first representation in the media was Apu on The Simpsons. Goodness, as if the teasing and bullying wasn’t bad enough before that. We unfortunately also have a problem of self hating South Asians. They yearn for white acceptance and will gleefully tear their own down. I admire and have so much respect for how black women will stand up for one another and accept that beauty comes in all shades, sizes, and features.
It’s the people who claim “ South Asian” identity that are hating her, not the Indian crowd. Pakis hate her with a vengeance because she is pro-India in the battle on cross border terrorism. Don’t assume it is the white women, hating on her. That’s a misconception.
