Obviously the show is fictitious. But the executive producer/head writer has been very public about how much research goes into it to make it as close to accurate as possible. Only royal apologists think there is no truth or reality to any of it. QEII is the most down to earth woman in the world without a snobbish thought in her head. Charles treated Diana with love and affection and there was no reason for her to hate the royal family. That's what you think right PP?
I'm not the PP, but this is interesting to learn - I was wondering how much was "real." I am enjoying this season, but I am a little conflicted. As someone else said, they were 10 when a lot of these events happened in their life. Same with me. So this portrayal is definitely cementing in my mind that this was what things were like. And many of the people portrayed are still with us. I'm not all worked up about it or anything, but it's in the back of my mind. Like, was Charles really carrying on with Camilla the whole time he was married? Was Diana as kind of dim as she is portrayed. I think you do forget that Diana was so young. Margaret Thatcher is fascinating. I don't know what mental disorder she had, but damn, she is messed up.
