The Asian-Americans drank the Kool aid that Blacks and Hispanics want to get rid of the gifted programs and so voted for Republicans. Guess they did not understand the "Divide And Conquer" philosophy of the White man from their own colonial past. Thankfully, with Trump putting restrictions on student and h4 visas most super educated Asian American IT workers were already against the Republicans. Now I just want all the racist old aunties and uncles to die off...because racists do not change their minds...they just get dementia, stroke and heart attack. As for the UpCounty.... Poolesville will continue to have a population of rural poor White who resent that things are not great for them and they also resent all the "others" who come for the school and are gentrifying it. It is a catch-22 situation but a microcosm of why Trump appealed to his supporters. It is not because they are racists. It is because they are poor and others are not.
Asian Americans are screwed on both sides. Republicans want to divide and conquer and Democrats only want increased URM representation, so they are trying to choose between the lesser of two evils. Btw, Asian Am. IT workers like the visa restrictions bc they want less of their own coming here and increasing competition for jobs.
Please tell me what's wrong with that?
DP..nothing inherently wrong with it, except if it comes at the expense of excluding others, ie affirmative action.
Affirmative action is RACIST. Period.
It is absolutely not racist when you consider that many standardized tests are absolutely skewed toward one race. Do you also complain when rich people or alumni get special treatment. Do you realize that because my black father could not have gone to most universities that it would be impossible for me to get the alumni benefit. If you are going to discount one thing, then discount everything.
