JFC. You took your child's friend on a trip, that kept your child occupied. You're upset that you didn't get a thank you? Get over yourself. We take friends children on various trips with us, and if one tried to offer special thanks or give me a gift, I would laugh and tell them to keep it.
Really? That would be very ungracious of you, to laugh at someone who was trying to show their appreciation, or not to accept a gift that they took the time to pick out for you. Anything other than, “that’s so nice, thank you” is incredibly rude!! Are you for real? If my kid were traveling with a friend, i would send them with money, because it’s polite to offer to pay for an outing, even if it’s declined. One should never assume that others will pay. It’s teaching a kid basic manners. I would also enthusiastically thank the host. I don’t take for granted the responsibility that they are assuming in caring for my child. It is deserving of thanks! I tend to be a people-pleaser, but I don’t think texting a thank you or greeting the host at the door to thank them is in that category. It’s just basic decency.
