What did Maine do right, so much that Trump singled them out for it?
Have a governor who's a woman.
Sorry, but it's true. - Michigan resident
Nope. Just like you can’t blame Trump for Covid, you can’t give Janet Mills credit for Maine’s situation. Maine is 35K square miles and has a population of 1.3 million. Maine has a population density of 41 people per square mile. Maryland has a population density of 594 people per square mile. And Maryland is way more diverse. Population density makes a huge difference in the spread of Covid.
Like in Arizona, for example, which has a population density of 45 people per square mile. No, wait...
You’re right. Let’s look at the demographic differences between Maine and Arizona. We have been told that Covid affects Blacks and Latinos at a higher rate. https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/07/01/885923635/why-latinos-are-hospitalized-from-covid-19-four-times-the-rate-of-white-american Arizona is about 30% Latino, whereas Maine is about 1% Latino. Arizona is 3.5% Black and Maine is 1.7% Black. That could definitely contribute to the difference in stats.
   PP, you can not be this dumb... The virus is picking ANYONE’s mouth, nose, or eyes to enter. It doesn’t migrate to black and brown people. Good Lord. Wearing a mask slows this down FOR EVERYONE. There is some evidence that minorities have some more side effects of the virus. That is all. And it has more to do with poverty level and health care options and how it affects their overall health (more asthmatics, diabetics, etc...)
Sure, hurl insults. That’s cool. It doesn’t matter. If the stats show that Latinos are more affected by the virus (due to pre-existing conditions like diabetes, due to poverty, due to the fact they live in more densely packed houses, etc) - then that means if there are more Latinos in an area, the number of Covid cases will be higher in that area. The point is, this is not a Democrat or a Republican issue. Some areas are doing better and some are not. That’s due to multiple factors (population density, demographics, etc). It has nothing to do with whether the state is run by a Democrat or Republican. So pricing Janet Mills for covid stats Maine is just as stupid as bashing Trump.
