The long-term solution is for FCPS to cut ties with Fairfax City and build another school further west.  As long as Fairfax City requires every student to attend Lanier/Fairfax, the boundaries will be distorted.

It's educational gerrymandering. My neighbor was told years ago by a School Board member that our neighborhood way out here would never be allowed to leave Fairfax HS because of what it would do to test scores and student involvement/parent participation. [/quote]

School Board members say all kinds of outrageous nonsense.

Do you realize how ridiculously overcrowded Centreville or Chantilly would be if either had to pick up Willow Springs kids.

It’s a marriage of convenience currently:  Fairfax City gets an influx of higher scoring kids but FCPS gets to send county kids to a well maintained, spacious school rather than turn one of its schools into an even larger trailer park.[/quote]
