She would would have faced a fine and a very minimal amount of time in a low security facility. She has an able-bodied husband and likely a family/friends support network to deal with the kids. This would have been off the news pages over a weekend had she done the right thing. Hell, in 2-3 years' time they probably could have had the coverage buried on Google with search engine optimization. IMHO, a terrible example was set for the three children.
